According to a report by the Central News Agency, a power outage occurred at Micron’s Taoyuan plant today. The shutdown time was about one hour. The production line has been gradually restored.
Micron stated that a power outage did indeed occur in the Taoyuan plant today. The plant immediately activated the safety protection mechanism. It is currently confirmed that all employees are safe and the impact of the incident is under investigation and confirmation.
Industry insiders pointed out that due to the limited power outage time, the follow-up can be used to increase production capacity to make up for it.
However, since the impact is still unclear, the market is concerned about whether this incident has caused fluctuations in the dynamic random access memory (DRAM) market. Industry insiders pointed out that Micron’s Taoyuan plant was originally Huaya Technology, and the main force is to produce 8Gb DDR 4 products. The current shortage is not too serious, so whether it will still affect the overall DRAM market supply remains to be seen.
According to statistics from Market Research Agency TrendForce, Micron is the world's third largest DRAM factory, with a market share of approximately 25% in the third quarter. Micron’s Taoyuan Plant and Taichung Plant are major production centers for Micron’s DRAM.
